Dethleffs caravans 2011

Dethleffs celebrates its 80 year birthday and has launched an Eighty caravan. The starting point for the Eighty has been the 515 DB floor plan. That’s double bed in the rear side by side with a toilet, kitchen in the middle, and dining area in the front. The exterior has a bold wood decor, so Eighty is really easy to recognize.

I had a chance to take a closer look at Eighty and I noticed that the wood decor is not the only bold styling element in this caravan. Glossy black and white furniture created strong contrast, but still the overall feeling inside Eighty remained balanced and somewhat retro. Lighting was moody and had a warm tone in it, which cannot be said from most LED lights today. There was a radio that played Eagles’ Hotel California and it was a perfect match for the mood created by the caravan itself.

Nomad

The largest new roll out is the Nomad series. It is a simple and clean line alternative to Camper caravans. Furniture is dark cypress. Alde central water heating is a standard accessory like the AirPlus air circulation design, electric floor heating and foam insulation. Nomad has 10 floor plans.

Other caravans and accessories

Camper, Lifestyle, Aero Style, Beduin, and Exclusiv have got small refinements. Camper and Camper Style provide generously 22 floor plans. Lifestyle has 8 layouts, Beduin 13 and Exclusiv 8.

The most distinct update for Aero Style are the exterior pastel colors. The interior is mostly dominated by white color and cherry veneer. The window in the curvy front wall is huge and it let’s a lot of natural light to fall in. When I was checking out the Aero Style the window made the caravan feel spacious and larger than what it measured. The curvy front wall did took away some head room, but the huge window more than made up for it. Aero Style has four floor plans.

A good news for winter travelers is that Alde water central heating is available for all the caravans except the smallest ones (under 5 meters in length).
