Ford Transit warns about low fuel level. The warning is a loud beep and a traditional yellow symbol. It is triggered when there is 70 km distance to empty tank. Updating the “distance to empty” figure was not smooth after the warning. It stayed couple of minutes in 67 km and then suddenly dropped to 53 km. So it’s good to be careful when the warning is on.
I talked with Ford service about the Engine Malfunction message. They said that it does not leave any log entry. So the error must be debugged while the message is on. This is quite hard, since it shows up randomly and not very often.
The mechanic said that he had worked on a couple of similar cases before without any results. The Transits have been perfectly fine despite of the error message. He gave me an advice that if Carado sounds like normal, drives like normal, and no traditional warning lights are on then there is nothing wrong.
The Engine Malfunction is probably triggered by one of the several sensors in the engine. Some sensor can give wrong readings right after it is powered up and the central processing unit is not always able to filter the readings properly.
I haven’t seen the message for a month now. It will be interesting to see if it appears during summer time. If not then it has something to do with the cold weather.
Carado shows Engine Malfunction - part 1
ABC Piihovi service station is located at the intersection of E18 highway and road number 52. The restaurant offers buffet and a’la carte meals, burgers and pizzas. Groceries can be purchased from the ABC Market. IhmeStore gift store operates at the same building.
There is a playground for dogs just next to truck point. It has a gravel surface and it is fenced. The playground could be larger, but it is anyway better than nothing. There is no possibility to empty a caravan toilet. Liquid gas bottles are available.
Carado has shown “Engine Malfunction” error message a few times. I was very surprised to see this message on the info screen. The Ford’s manual explains that the engine does not work properly and the user should contact Ford service.
The error message has appeared a few times randomly. Carado has been cold every time meaning that it has not been in use at least in 10 hours. The message has appeared immediately after I have turned on the electricity. So the engine has not been even running. I have been able to reset the error by turning off the power and then pushing the reset button. After that procedure I haven’t seen the error message when I have started the engine.
Carado shows Engine Malfunction - part 2
Nokia has launched new Widsets version 2.0. Widsets is a mobile phone client that allows users to access for example our news stream with a mobile phone (link to our widget). The handy feature is that, since the client downloads the news feed as a text the operation is quick and does not cost so much.
Email widget allows to access many online mail services. New Widsets introduces ad banners. The first impression about them is positive. They are clearly visible, but they don’t hinder the usage of the application.
Widsets 2.0 takes 457 kB of memory. The installation was quick and automatic. However, the installation left web browser open with an empty page. The new Widsets starts up more quickly than the previous version. The operation of the client also feels smoother than before.
My Carado T135 has a manual piezo ignition fridge. I really would like to have an automatic ignition, since it is more convenient. The window to see if there is a flame is located in the lower left corner of the fridge. It cannot be seen if the fridge is full. Changing from electric use to gas requires emptying part of the fridge.
Dometic offers a battery powered igniter that’s compatible with all Dometic piezo-fridges manufactured after 1st of January 1998. The button is pressed and hold until the gas has been ignited. So it still requires checking the flame from the window. Perhaps it would be easier to hear when the gas ignites with this battery igniter?
The battery is located behind the button and it is easy to change. The installation of the igniter should be also easy.
Dsus DS-400GB integrates rear view camera display and a navigator. The device is shaped like a rear view mirror. It has a 4 inch touch screen with 480 x 272 resolution, Bluetooth for hands free operation, SD memory card slot and SiRF Star III GPS receiver.
Nice idea to integrate these two devices into one solution. This would be quite handy especially in motor homes where rear view mirror is otherwise useless. Dsus has also MP3 player functionality. Manufacturer web site.
I would expect some water damage after that river crossing.
